VEF KVARTĀLS supports the Latvian feature film "Jumprava. The Big Event." . The film is about the formation of the legendary music group Jumprava in Latvia in the 1980s, when, from 1984 to 1991, young people, in spite of the existing order in the country, tried to reach out to their peers and society through music. The film is based on a story about youthful maximalism, about life, about music and how a vocal instrumental ensemble becomes a supergroup that resounds through the ages.

As Aigars Grauba, the director and producer of the film, says: "The film is not about Jumprava, but about all of us at that time, our youth, about those for whom the time of the beginning of the road fell in the 1980s. The four members of Jumprava are portrayed by Gatis Grāvers (Aigars Grāvers), Roberts Vanags (Aigars Grauba), Raimonds Celms (Ainārs Ašmanis) and Rihards Zeļezņevs (Aigars Krēsla). As is well known, in the early years the core members of the group included Ingus Ulmanis and Aigars Voitišķis, portrayed in the film by Mārtiņš Kalniņš and Gvido Valters, and two other members, portrayed by Rūdolfs Apse (Hermanis Kaminskis) and Jānis Biezais (Māris Jurjāns).

The main roles are not only chosen for their visual similarity. The doubles of "Jumpravans" know how to play musical instruments, so as not to fool the viewer. In the theatre play and now in the film, the National Theatre actor Raimonds Celms plays the role of Ainārs Ašmanis, the founder of the group.

We are looking forward to the premiere!
