Cinematic electronic music duo Boy Harsher will perform at VEF KVARTĀL

Kinematiskais elektroniskās mūzikas duets Boy Harsher uzstāsies VEF KVARTĀLĀ

On 18 July, the rhythmic and slightly spooky musical group Boy Harsher will perform at VEF KVARTĀLS Vasarāls, warmed up by the Latvian band Radiotehnika.

Unlike most electronic musicians, whose work is described as "cinematic", the members of Boy Harsher are really film-makers. Jay Matthews and Augustus Muller met at film school in Georgia, and their latest audio release is the soundtrack to The Runner, a mix of documentary and horror written, directed and produced by the duo. Boy Harsher's style, variously described as "coldwave" and "electronic body music", tends towards the weirder side of synth-driven dance styles. In simpler terms, the songs are reminiscent of the pulsating sound of Suicide, a band that emerged as a novelty in the early 1970s, combining synth with vocals. The way August Muller layers simple keyboard riffs over industrial rhythms, on the other hand, is more reminiscent of the mid-80s Depeche Mode sound.

Over the years Boy Harsher has managed to reach new heights - the quality of their music-making is constantly growing and with each album their music becomes more dynamic and powerful.

And don't forget the American ability to captivate the masses from the stage - Boy Harsher concerts are a unique experience where deeply intimate emotional stories are intertwined with crazy rhythms and brought to life.

The concert is organised by Laska Production and Laska Bar in collaboration with VEF KVARTĀL and the quarter's resident Power Production.

Venue - VEF KVARTĀLA Vasarnīca, Ūnijas iela 8 k-2, Riga.

Entrance to the concert from 19.00, 19.30 - Radiotehnika (LV), 21.00 - Boy Harsher (US).
