"Better late than never!" - with this motto Riga Mixed Choir "Domino" invites the audience to the 13th anniversary concert of the ensemble, to look back at the achievements of the past and to bring new flavours to the repertoire.
The concert programme is designed to present a selection of works from the choir's lifetime, chosen taking into account the choir members' own favourites, as well as a set of new songs dedicated to the theme of flowers, in keeping with the spring season of the birthday.
As Eduards Fiskovičs, the artistic director of the Domino Choir, says, "The idea of this concert has been in the air since 2020, when we planned to celebrate the choir's 10th anniversary a year later, but these and other plans for new concert programmes were disrupted and postponed almost indefinitely by the Covid pandemic. However, we did not throw the brick into the bush, and instead of waiting for the next round or half-round anniversary year, we decided to go the unconventional route and celebrate the choir's 13th anniversary with this special concert. The Choir's first 3-year anniversary concert was just as rough, so it's been a decade since the last one, and the excitement for a celebration is quite justified!"
This concert will feature a cappella songs, including original works and settings written especially for Domino Choir. The programme includes compositions by local composers, from Jāzeps Mediņš and Marģeris Zariņš to Irina Mihailovska and Vilnis Šmīdbergs, as well as works by foreign composers, accompanied by video projections appropriate to the theme and mood.
The concert programme will be performed 28. 16.00, VEF Chamber Hall | Spīdola, Riga, Ieriķu iela 5A. Free entrance to the concert.
